BECOME A FLAG OFFICIAL
IMPORTANT MESSAGE
Starting with the 2026 Fall Flag season, Manitoba is adopting the IFAF rules which are used at all national, international events and will be used in the 2028 Olympics.
All training is currently being updated however the Level One e-Learning is still based on the current Football Canada Rules. Football Canada has advised that the material covered is still applicable and should be used for new officials until the new online training is available.
You can start officiating at the age of 14 however games will be restricted to younger age divisions.
Referees are required to have their own Officials jersey. These are available for purchase through the Football Manitoba office.
Referees will receive all game assignments through our TeamLinkt Officials’ platform and the TeamLinkt Officials mobile app.
Earnings for officiating are normally paid out at the end of each season. There are currently no deductions from your pay unless you have a balance owing.
i.e. jersey purchase etc.
TRAINING STEPS FOR NEW OFFICIALS
The training below is required only once
and are not annual requirements.
Football Manitoba provides all training for all flag officials before the start of each season. New delivery methods for flag training are now available and you can get started on your own time right now!
Follow these steps to get started as a Non-Contact (Flag) Official!
STEP #1
Register for the current Football Manitoba flag season.
Use the following link to register receive training during the current Football Manitoba season
STEP #2
Go to officials.footballcanada.com to create your training account. Select Manitoba Flag Officials as your association
STEP #3
Complete the “LEVEL 1 eLEARNING” for Flag Officials
Registered flag officials can email our office to obtain a voucher which will allow you to complete the eLearning

Register and attend a “LEVEL 1 CLINIC”

STEP #5
Set your work availability in TeamLinkt
Download the TeamLinkt Officials mobile app from the App Store or Google Play Store.
STEP #6
Take the “LEVEL ONE EXAM”
Failing does not exclude you from moving forward with training or officiating, but does indicate that additional training may be required.
You may use the Football Canada Flag Rule book when taking the exam. This can be found under OFFICIALS – OFFICIAL RESOURCES on the website.
STEP #7
Accept/Decline game “Game Assignments”
You will receive emails with assignments or you can New officials
will normally be assigned at least two (paid) games for On-Field Training.
