High Performance

JANUARY – Football Manitoba/Sport Manitoba High Performance Combine Testing

FEB-MARCH – Bison Prep Camp

FEB-APRIL – Canada Games Performance Centre – Strength and Conditioning Program

APRIL – PHASE ONE
This is the first weekend for players to show their stuff!  This intense, four session (over 2 days) is where players will have a chance to show that they deserve the chance to represent Manitoba.  Players will be put through several individual assessments targeting the skills required for their chosen position, in a competitive environment with limited full contact.  Players will also be challenged in crossover sessions against their defensive or offensive counterparts simulating high calibre game situations.

MAY – PHASE TWO
This is the final opportunity for U16 and U18 players to show what they have to offer!  Also known and the BLACK AND GOLD weekend, players spend three full days finalizing their understanding of playbooks, systems and are divided into two squads or teams for each age division – U16 Team BLACK and Team Gold, and the same for U18.  The Black and Gold Game is a long-standing event which is full of excitement and nerves as players leave it all on the field in their bid to make TEAM MANITOBA for their age division.

JULY/AUGUST

Tackle teams travel to their respective competitions to represent MANITOBA!

The BISON PREP CAMP is an 8 session training camp to prepare players for the TEAM MANITOBA ID and selection process.

Football Manitoba, in partnership with the University of Manitoba Bison Football program/staff and players, provides our U16 and U18 candidates with the opportunity to learn advanced “next-level” skills and tactics to prepare them for regional and national competitions that take place during the summer months.  U of M Bison Football Coaches lead players through the same intense learning and skill development that is often required at the U-Sport level which benefits all participants, whether selected for our Provincial Team Program or not.

The camp usually takes place indoors on weekends, Feb through March prior to the Football Manitoba Phase One ID camp.

Information will be available here for the next Bison Prep Camp when available.

All U18 players in Manitoba and North-Western Ontario (age 16-17) are eligible to try out for Team Manitoba.  After a lengthy selection process, our U18 Team travels each year to the Football Canada Cup – the Under 18 National Championship tournament held in a different province each year.

The Football Canada Cup is the “premiere” scouting and recruiting opportunity with numerous U-Sport (Canadian university) coaches and scouts on hand.

In addition, players that perform and stand out at Canada Cup are generally selected to Team Canada to compete in the International Bowl in Texas early in the new year.

Details on the next U18 camps, selections and training camps will be posted here when available.

All U16 players in Manitoba and North-Western Ontario (age 14-15) are eligible to try out for Team Manitoba.  After a lengthy selection process, our U16 Team travels each year to the Western Regional U16 tournament held in a different western province each year.

Details on the next U16 camps, selections and training camps will be posted here when available.
