WE NEED YOU TO HELP COACH!
As flag football continues to grow is leaps and bounds, so does the need for parents to help coach this truly fun sport that so many children are experiencing. Almost 35% of each season’s players consist of those new to flag football, which requires a large number of coaches also new to the sport. Teams that are formed from individuals or “free agents” need to have parents help with this as we cannot provide caches for all of the new teams we see joining our leagues every year.
Coaching flag football does not require any football experience until athletes reach the older more competitive ages. Many parents (both moms and dads) step up every year to help coach their child’s team even though they may not have coached a team sport before. Ideally at least two parents will volunteer to “co-coach” and share the fun.
We provide all the tools needed to get new coaches and their team playing and having fun. The requirements are quite simple and takes little time to complete. The only other requirement for coaches is to enjoy having fun with a group of young athletes!
If you want to have some fun with your child (and others) along with one or two other parents who are willing to help, please indicate this on your child’s registration form. We will make sure you’re ready for all the excitement you’ll experience this season!

GAME FORMAT
All divisions are 5 vs 5, meaning that there are 5 players on the field from each team at any given time.
Each teams will have a minimum roster of 10 players and a maximum of 12 players.
FREE AGENT or TEAM MEMBER
Players can register as an individual player or free agent to be assigned to a team, usually with several other free agent players. Groups of friends with fewer than 5 players can register as a small group to ensure they are placed on the same team. All members of a small group must be registered using the Small Group form on or before October 14th. Players registering to a small group after that date cannot be guaranteed that they can be assigned to play with their friends. Friend groups with 5 or more players are required to register as a team and provide coaches from among the parents. We can fill your roster with additional players to ensure there is at least 10 players.
Players can also register as a member of a specific team with a coach and a predetermined roster. If joining a specific team, the coach must register the team before the players register and provide all players with the team code which will add you to the roster automatically.
Follow the appropriate links to register as a free agent, with a team, or either as a team or a small group.
GAME TIMES
COED Divisions play Saturdays
Games start at 1:30pm starting with the youngest age group (U10 Division) and progress through the age divisions in order each hour with the High School division finishing up by 9:30pm. We cannot confirm exact game times until registration closes as some age divisions span more than one hour in order to schedule games for that division.
GIRLS Divisions play Sundays from 2:30pm – 6:30pm
OTHER INFORMATION
How many players do we need for a team?
Minimum of 10 registered players and a maximum of 12 registered players
Can I register even if I don’t have a team?
Yes, you can register as an individual to be assigned to a team that do not have a full roster. In some cases teams are made up of individuals to create a “free agent” team. You can also create a small group for friends to be assigned to the same team.
Where do the indoor games take place?
All Games will take place at:
University of Winnipeg – Axworthy Health and RecPlex
350 Spence Street
Winnipeg, MB
Where do teams practice?
Practices are the responsibility of each team to find a facility if desired. Unlike our outdoor seasons, most teams will not practice during the fall and winter seasons due to the difficulty in finding a gym or other facility to practice. However, this does not hinder the children’s ability to learn the game, some new skills and have a lot of fun!
The indoor seasons are intended as recreational leagues to provide physical activity through the winter months. We encourage participation and fun more than competition, especially at the younger ages. The rules of the game can be learned very quickly, and even teams that are unable to practice between games will have a lot of excitement and fun by participating!

The COED league fee is $225 plus the 2024 Annual Membership and Insurance ($40.20) if not paid previously in the 2023 calendar year. Your league fee includes 2 game shirts (home and away)
